Biography

Abbas Kazemipour — el-eje — has played milongas, festivals, and championships across the Americas, Europe, Asia, and Buenos Aires since 2018, including as an official DJ of the Argentine Tango USA Championship and at established Buenos Aires milongas such as La Baldosa, Gente Amiga, and El Rodríguez. He also teaches DJs internationally.

His DJing is grounded in a disciplined commitment to the Golden Age, with carefully considered deviations when the floor calls for them — built on years of studying the orchestras, singers, and history, and on high-quality transfers played through professional-grade software and sound.

That sound-first approach has roots: a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering with doctoral work in signal processing (compressed sensing), and research and applied-science roles at Stanford and Amazon. The same ear for signal and structure shapes how he equalizes a transfer, reads a floor, and builds the software behind el-eje.
